David Mair  Managing Director

David joined Alpha in 1993 after a successful sales management career at both British American Tobacco and Black & Decker. Since then he has progressed through the ranks and was appointed Managing Director after a management buyout in January 2004.

“My total focus is to deliver the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Alpha’s business model has always been based on long term relationships with our clients”

David is driven to oversee Alpha become the UK’s number one choice for data management solutions. He takes responsibility for the direction of the company and is very proactive in customer relationships

 

 

John Malabon  Marketing Director

John brings over 20 years of B2B Sales and Marketing experience and holds overall responsibility for the external positioning and messaging of our business to both existing and new customers. He possesses a proven track record of driving sales growth and planning marketing promotions in business to business operations spanning across both the public and private sectors.

Part of the team that executed the MBO, he has held previous position at Alpha including Sales & Marketing Director and New Business Development Manager where he won and managed several major accounts including Sony, Fujitsu and Royal London.

Prior to joining Alpha in 1993, John led the development of a new start business, brokering second user office equipment and has also held senior sales roles at several office automation companies.

John is a graduate of Huddersfield University and the Institute of Marketing.

 

 

Howard Johnson  Technical Services Director

After studying at a North West Information Technology Learning Institute Howard started his career as a Systems Engineer with UK IT Distributor MBS PLC (later Technology PLC / ICL) before moving into a National field based role with the technology arm of the ITT Group where he twice won the Chairman’s Outstanding Contribution award.

Howard joined Alpha in 1994 and was quickly promoted to Services Manager with responsibility to build Professional Services revenues via new technology adoption and alliance building with key industry vendors.

Howard joined the board of Directors in 2004 during the management buyout of that year and remains focussed on ensuring the business achieves its operational targets and objectives.

 

 

Simon Birney Sales Director

Simon joined Alpha in 2001. With a Diploma in Computer Technology & Electronic Engineering, and a Degree in Computer Science, he was well suited to applying his technical capabilities to what was then an immature marketplace. Quickly succeeding in accelerating the business into one of the UK’s leading technical integrators in data management, he has held a senior position since 2004 when the business dedicated itself to data management solutions.

Previous to Alpha, Simon has had successful careers growing the sales of other technology companies, winning accounts such as UPS, Vickers Defence Systems, Rolls Royce & Direct Line Insurance.

Now with over 18 years in sales, and nearly 10 years experience in delivering data management solutions to a wide range of Public and Private Sector organisations, Simon has responsibility for sales of the entire business portfolio. “My key focus is on continuing to lead the way in the marketplace, delivering quality business engagements with our customers”

 

 

Charles Halle Non Executive Director

Charles studied Mathematics & Computing Science in Sheffield before launching his career with IBM in the UK where he remained for 23 years. As Director of IBM e-business in Northern Europe and South Africa, he was responsible for the development of business plans for a start-up organisation at the leading edge of internet business solutions.

In 1998 took the position of CEO with Vocalis Group PLC, a company specialising in speech recognition technology.  Later, as Chief Executive with retail software and services company Armature Group, he restructured the business with a new sales and marketing strategy and successfully positioned it for acquisition by Lawson Software Inc in 2002.

Since then Charles Halle has pursued a portfolio career of non-executive positions in the technology sector, Halle brings to Alpha a wealth of experience from a strong background in sales and marketing.  Passionate about technology and its application in solving business solutions, he likes to lead from the front and is a great believer in the power of the team.
