Many organisations are now deploying VMware in production. Small pilot projects have organically grown into ‘full-scale deployments’; platform stability and the ease with which applications can be deployed into virtual machines has resulted in environments that vastly outstrip the capacity the Virtual Infrastructure was designed to support. The problem of ‘server sprawl’ has become one of ‘virtual machine sprawl’.

The ‘Virtual Infrastructure Health Check’ is aimed at customers that have already invested in a Virtual Infrastructure, but now want to reassess their deployment against ‘best practice’ e.g. because they are hitting performance problems or simply due to good governance.

The service comprises an audit of the existing Virtual Infrastructure against industry ‘best practice’, supplemented with Alpha’s own knowledge and experience. The findings are documented in a report, together with recommended actions. The report is presented back to the customer through an interactive workshop, which provides the customer with the knowledge they need to manage the environment more effectively on an ongoing basis.
