Recovery Time Objective (RTO)

The Recovery Time Objective is the time needed to recover from a disaster or how long you can afford to be without your systems.

For example, if your service level agreement (SLA) promises that you'll restore operations within six hours of a disaster, you have a six-hour RTO.

When business application failures occur your users expect you to recover data as quickly as possible. Deploying a solution that provides quick recovery can provide an immediate return to your organisation but requires a detailed knowledge of the underlying technologies. Alpha has years of experience in designing solutions to meet organisations recovery time and recovery point objectives.

These solutions include augmenting your traditional backup and recovery strategies with continuous data protection (CDP) solutions. CDP dramatically improves RPOs and RTOs while eliminating backup windows. CDP also reduces the need for tape in the backup and recovery process and makes recovery easy enough that users can often recover their own files, without help from IT.

If you have challenges with meeting your organisation RTO requirements contact us for an independent revue.
